Bio
Keerim Kim is a Korean painter based in New York City whose practice centers on oil painting and mixed-media work. She received her B.A. from Hunter College in 2019 and completed The Canopy Program at NYC Crit Club in 2024. Kim received the Kossak Painting Fellowship in 2018 and 2019. She has presented solo exhibitions at Gallery Daon (Seoul, Korea), CICA Museum (Gimpo, Korea), and Gallery Amidi (Seoul, Korea). Her work has been included in group exhibitions at L’appartement 49C (New York, NY), Visionary Projects (New York, NY), Walter Wickiser Gallery (New York, NY), Greenpoint Gallery (New York, NY), among others. She was an artist-in-residence at ChaNorth Artist Residency (Pine Plains, NY). Her work has been featured in Artsinsquare, Art Maze Magazine, CICA Museum, and London Paint Club.
Statement
Keerim Kim is a painter working primarily in oil and mixed media, exploring the shifting meaning of home through migration, memory, and belonging. Drawing from natural forms and architectural spaces, she considers home as both a physical place and an evolving psychological state. Images of shelter, return, and regeneration become ways to reflect on displacement, adaptation, and transformation. Her paintings merge observation with imagination, bringing together organic curves and structured edges to create spaces that feel both familiar and uncertain. Through layered color, light, and varying degrees of opacity, Kim evokes movement and the passage of time, reflecting how our relationships to place and belonging continually change.
